When talking about working in diabetes, the conversation is often around clinical care, there are many other opportunities. A career in diabetes can look like a researcher developing the next breakthrough therapy. It can look like a marketing manager at a med device company, a policy advocate on Capitol Hill, a dietitian running group visits, a graphic designer making patient education actually readable or a project manager keeping a nonprofit running.

Living with diabetes gives you something most people in the field don't have: firsthand knowledge of what it's actually like. That's not a footnote on your resume. It's a differentiator and can set you apart from other candidates.
where do you fit?
The diabetes field needs clinicians (endocrinologists, diabetes care and education specialists, nurses, dietitians) but it also needs marketers, designers, researchers, policy advocates, nonprofit managers and communicators. If you can picture a role, there's probably a version of it in this space. The question is where you want to show up and what other skills you want to flex.
